Parsons, Ks –  Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band are coming all the way from Louisiana to play their unique brand of zydeco music this (Thurs) evening at the Seaton Family Pavilion at Forest Park in Parsons, weather permitting.

In case of rain, the free concert will be moved to the Parsons Municipal Auditorium. The performance is being presented as part of the Music in the Park series, which is sponsored by the City of Parsons, with administrative assistance from Labette Community College. Bench seating and picnic tables are available, but individuals are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. All concerts start at 7:30 p.m. Concessions, provided by local vendors, will be available in the park each evening starting at 6:30.  Next Thursday, the bluegrass band Lonesome Road will perform in concert.  On July 15, Music in the Park is doing the first-ever, Open Mic Night Jam Session that will be facilitated by an emcee who will schedule and direct the musicians on and off the stage.  One of the Midwest’s finest jazz ensembles, the Doug Talley Quartet of Kansas City will perform July 22.  To wrap up the concert series on July 29 the rhythm & blues band, Connie and the Choirboys will hit the stage.
